Arab Weather - Specialists at the Arab Weather Regional Center are following up on what the latest weather maps indicate about the impact of various parts of the Maghreb countries, especially the northern parts of Tunisia and Algeria, by a low pressure system accompanied by a very cold air mass, which is expected to bring large amounts of rain that threaten floods and torrents, interspersed with heavy snowfall on parts of the Atlas Mountains in Tunisia and Algeria.
Heavy rains threaten floods and torrents in parts of Tunisia and Algeria
In detail, it is expected, God willing, that the actual impact of the low pressure system will gradually begin from the hours of midnight tonight (Thursday/Friday night) on the northwestern parts of Libya, including the capital Tripoli, and the eastern parts of Tunisia, so that these areas will witness thunderstorms, which will intensify to become heavy to very heavy during the dawn and morning hours of Friday, and its scope of impact will expand to include various central and northern parts of Tunisia, including the capital, with expectations of local floods and rising water levels.
Gradually, starting from the afternoon and evening hours, most of the rain clouds move west to affect all of the northern parts of Algeria, but they are very heavy at night in Chegfa, Jijel, Ziama Mansouria, reaching Ougas, Kherrata, Ain Dakar, Bejaia, reaching the Idkar and Beni Sehila districts. The rain is accompanied by lightning, thunder, and hail showers, with a high chance of floods, valleys and torrents.
Heavy snow on mountain heights above 900 meters in Tunisia and Algeria
Heavy snow is also expected to fall on mountainous areas that are more than 900 meters above sea level in Algeria and the western parts of Tunisia, with a sharp and significant drop in temperatures, and God knows best.
